New clients for Australian recruiters,
in your business hours, not ours.
Most offshore lead generation teams working Australian accounts send at the wrong time and follow up a day late. We are based in India, which means AEST and AWST are a normal working day for us, not a night shift somebody has to be paid extra for.
How do Australian recruitment agencies win new clients?
One thing shapes Australian client acquisition more than anything else, and most outside agencies have never heard of it: there is no national labour hire licence. Queensland, Victoria and South Australia each run their own scheme under their own Act, with their own regulator, and a licence in one state does not authorise supply into another. South Australia extended its scheme beyond high-risk sectors to all industries during 2026, and Victoria tightened its fit-and-proper and financial viability tests the same year.
That has a direct consequence for who you should be targeting. If you are licensed in Victoria, a Queensland host using you is exposed, and that is a conversation neither side wants to discover late. So the account list is not "Australian companies in our sector", it is "companies in the states we can lawfully supply into, that are hiring now". Getting that right is half the job, and it is the half nobody else does.
Why the state licensing picture decides your target list
There is no national reciprocity. That single fact rewrites the account list.
- Queensland runs its scheme under the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2017, with a fit-and-proper-person test and a financial viability assessment, and licences that require regular renewal.
- Victoria runs a standalone Labour Hire Authority under the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018, and strengthened its fit-and-proper and financial viability requirements during 2026.
- South Australia widened its scheme in 2026 from a list of prescribed high-risk sectors to all industries, which pulled a large number of providers into licensing who had never needed it before.
- New South Wales and Western Australia have been considering schemes rather than operating them, which makes them a different kind of market to sell into today.
Hosts face penalties for engaging an unlicensed provider, which means a compliance-minded client will check your licence before they talk commercials. For a licensed provider that is an advantage worth leading with rather than burying, and for perm-only agencies with no on-hire exposure it is worth saying so explicitly, because clients increasingly assume the question applies to everyone.
We are a client acquisition team. We do not advise on labour hire licensing, workplace relations or any other regulatory question, and nothing here is advice. We build the targeting and the outreach around the states and sectors you tell us you can lawfully serve, and we will ask you that question before we build a list rather than after.
What does the India timezone actually get you?
This is the part most Australian agencies have been burned on, so it is worth being concrete rather than making a claim.
Indian Standard Time runs roughly four and a half to five and a half hours behind the eastern states depending on daylight saving, and two and a half hours behind Perth. A normal Indian working day covers the entire Australian morning and the start of the afternoon. That means first sends land at the beginning of a buyer's day rather than overnight, replies get answered inside the same business day instead of the next one, and a hiring manager who asks a question at 10am Sydney time hears back before lunch.
A US-based agency working your accounts is asleep for your entire working day. They either accept a 24-hour lag on every reply or they pay for a night shift, and the cost of that shows up in your invoice. We are not doing anything clever here. We are simply awake.
Who buys recruitment services in Australia?
- On-hire and labour hire: operations and site management, who feel a shortfall immediately, with procurement and WHS involved on anything of scale. Compliance evidence is requested early and often.
- Perm, SME and mid-market: the hiring manager directly. Australia's mid-market is less layered than the US equivalent, so you reach decision makers faster than you would expect.
- Government and large enterprise: panel arrangements. Getting onto a panel is a separate exercise from winning a role and runs on its own timetable, and it is worth knowing which panels are open before you spend a quarter chasing one that is not.
- Specialist and executive: the business owner or the executive team, especially outside Sydney and Melbourne where the market is smaller and relationships carry further.
Geography matters more than most offshore teams expect. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide are genuinely different markets with different dominant industries, and Perth runs on its own clock two to three hours behind the east. A single national campaign treated as one audience underperforms a campaign split by state every time.
What we run for Australian agencies
- A list filtered by where you can actually supplyBuilt from employers hiring now, filtered by the states your licensing permits, then split by city rather than run as one national campaign.
- Sending infrastructure in your nameSeparate domains, warmup, authentication and inbox placement monitoring, timed to land at the start of the Australian business day rather than in the middle of the night.
- Same-day reply handlingReplies triaged and answered within Australian business hours. This is the single thing clients tell us offshore teams get wrong most often.
- Inbound built alongsideSearch and answer-engine visibility so you are found by a hiring manager searching with an urgent role. For one recruiting client this produced 34,000 impressions and 28 booked-call requests in five weeks.
Our published recruiting proof is from US firms and we will not pretend otherwise: 15 leads in three weeks producing 3 closed deals and 3 placements at a Nashville staffing business; $1.6M of pipeline and 7 placements over 18 months at a GTM recruiting firm; and that same firm's inbound result above. The case studies are published here.
Also selling into New Zealand, Singapore or the UK? Each runs differently, and the main staffing and recruiting page covers the method in full.
FAQ
Questions Australian recruiters ask us
Actually. Indian Standard Time covers the whole Australian morning and early afternoon as a normal working day, so sends land at the start of your buyer’s day and replies get handled the same day rather than the next one. Perth is even easier at two and a half hours difference. No night shift, no premium on your invoice, and no 24-hour lag on every reply.
Well enough to build your list correctly, which means asking which states you are licensed to supply into before we target anyone, and knowing that a licence in one state does not cover another. We do not advise on licensing and nothing we produce is regulatory advice. If you are perm-only with no on-hire exposure we will say that clearly in the messaging, because clients increasingly assume the question applies to every agency.
Yes, and smaller markets are often easier. Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and the regional centres have less agency competition and shorter chains to the decision maker. What matters is that you have a defined sector, not that you are in a capital city.
No, clients only. We bring hiring managers, operations leaders, HR and procurement to you. Your consultants handle candidates, and they should.
A good local BD consultant beats us on relationships and should. Where we win is on build cost and coverage: the infrastructure, the data and the sending reputation are already in place, we are running the same system across many recruiting clients, and we do not take four months to ramp. Several of our clients run both, with us creating the conversations and their own person taking the meetings.
